چکیده

Background In breast cancer management, age-related practice variation is widespread, with older women having lower rates of surgery and chemotherapy than younger women, based on the premise reduced treatment tolerance benefit. This may contribute to inferior outcomes. There are currently no age- fitness-stratified guidelines which base recommendations. Aim We aimed optimise choice outcomes for (aged ≥ 70 years) operable cancer. Objectives Our objectives were (1) determine age, comorbidity, frailty, disease stage biology thresholds endocrine therapy alone versus plus adjuvant therapy, or chemotherapy, cancer; (2) survival by improving quality decision-making; (3) develop evaluate a decision support intervention enhance shared (4) degree causes between UK units. Design A prospective cohort study was used age fitness allocation. Lumpectomy plus tamoxifen with or without irradiation in women 70 years of age or older with early breast cancer.

BACKGROUND In women 70 years of age or older who have early breast cancer, it is unclear whether lumpectomy plus tamoxifen is as effective as lumpectomy followed by tamoxifen plus radiation therapy. METHODS Between July 1994 and February 1999, we randomly assigned 636 women who were 70 years of age or older and who had clinical stage I (T1N0M0 according to the tumor-node-metastasis classifica...

Improving outcomes in early-stage breast cancer.

Early-stage breast cancer is a prevalent malignancy that continues to cause a significant number of cancer-related deaths each year. Current evidence points to suboptimal care in patients with early-stage breast cancer, especially with regard to physician use of guideline-recommended care. Such appropriate treatment regimens as breast-conserving therapy and adjuvant therapy (including radiation...

Breast-conserving surgery with or without irradiation in women aged 65 years or older with early breast cancer (PRIME II): a randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND For most older women with early breast cancer, standard treatment after breast-conserving surgery is adjuvant whole-breast radiotherapy and adjuvant endocrine treatment. We aimed to assess the effect omission of whole-breast radiotherapy would have on local control in older women at low risk of local recurrence at 5 years. METHODS Between April 16, 2003, and Dec 22, 2009, 1326 wome...

Background: Studies have shown that participation of Iranian women with family history of breast cancer in screening service is low. This investigation has evaluated the effectiveness of health models according to peer group in improving clinical breast exam (CBE) among Iranian women with a family history of breast cancer.    Methods: This was a randomized control ...
